Rock the Stage with Karen McGregor - Calgary
So excited to go and see Karen from Speaker Success Formula on Thursday night!
I took her course a year and ago, and since then, a few of my friends have signed up and taken it as well.
As many of you know, I have been in the learning and development space for over 20 years, doing everything from classroom to elearning, tech writing to instructional design. I have written courses for many large companies such as Suncor, Nexen, ATB Financial, Agrium and Marks Work Warehouse to name a few.
I have also delivered smaller courses, such as a Reiki courses, a Business to Business Sales Course (that ran in Red Deer College's continuing education curriculum for a few years) and even some cooking courses. So really, I have done the gamut across industries and topics, in large companies and small businesses.
But one thing was missing for me. I can write courses and get compensated well in both repeat business and referrals in this space. I can even sell other people's products. I was an award-winning sales rep at SuperPages prior to entering the training field.
I can also train others on fun topics like cooking, or complex topics like system training for SAP using both classroom and webinar mathods.
However, ..... I was NOT as comfortable to sell my OWN courses on my own service offerings. I was not as confident in pitching my own products, because now that its my product that I wrote, its personal. Right?
After taking Rock the Stage, and learning Karen's formula, this gave me the confidence to start building my own training program in Ecommerce (you read that correctly - not course, program), and also gave me the system for how to fill those classes. She also walked me through how to structure my talk, using a proven method of results for any speaker. So now I have the tools and the support I need, and am working through the development process on my own program. Instead of being nervous, I am pretty darn excited.
My dear friend Maureen who was my Training Manager at SuperPages took Rock the Stage as well, and we are partnering on a 3 day workshop on Ecommerce to be released a little later this year.
Are you interested in learning how to rock the stage as well? Come to Karen's free talk on Thursday to learn a bit more about the program.
